As a Social Media & Public Relations Specialist for our company, you will need a strong background in the social media/ public relations space. The ideal candidate is highly organized and a strong communicator who is a motivated, customer- facing public relations and social media marketing professional. You will help drive the social media strategy for various brands from consumer electronics to pet and personal care products, as well as oversee/ implement PR & social media campaigns along with our agency partners which include but are not limited to, managing the creation of published content, designing earned and paid promotions and campaigns, monitoring social trends, and reporting on the effectiveness of social media efforts.

Job Position Title: Social Media Specialist

Department: Marketing

Division/Section: Social Media

Reports To: Social Media Director

Facility Location: Edison, NJ

Shift Type: Full-time, Day

Work Shift: Monday-Thursday 9:00am-6:00pm, Friday 9:00am-2:00pm (IN-HOUSE POSITION- NOT remote!)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assisting in creating social media and public relation strategies that coordinate with marketing, sales and R&D.
Managing social media and PR campaigns with daily activities including:
Developing relevant content topics to reach the company’s target audience.
Working with social media influencers.
Creating, curating, and managing published content - images, videos, and written content.
Monitoring and responding to users in a “Social” way while cultivating leads and sales.
Developing and expanding community and/or influencer outreach efforts.
Overseeing design (i.e., Social media graphics optimized for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, thumbnails, ads, blog, etc.).
Designing, creating, and managing promotions and social ad campaigns.
Monitoring online feedback and respond in a timely matter.
Analyzing and reporting on key metrics.
Developing summaries that detail social media performance.
Leveraging data learnings from reports to shape recommendations for the future.
Compiling reports for management showing results.
Advocating for the company in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues, and answering questions where appropriate.
Monitoring trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
Implementing ongoing education to remain highly effective.
Analyzing campaigns and translating anecdotal/qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media and social advertising campaigns.
Monitoring effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of PR and social media campaigns.

Required skills:

2-3+ years of experience in a social media and public relations role.
Proven success with social media and PR, including an ability to build and maintain media relationships.
Ability to create content strategy that includes content development and publishing.
Knowledge and experience with common monitoring and reporting tools for social media and PR.
Ability to create content in the social media space for specified target audience(s).
Desired skills:

Education: BA or BS in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations, or equivalent work experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

Must be a self-starter and able to work in an office setting
Must be able to work in a fast paced and diverse environment
Must be able to work shift hours and seasonal changes based on the needs of the business
Must be able to perform work duties when specified in-office or asked to do so remotely if necessary

Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the US
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must pass a Background Check
