Job Summary:
One of the leading Orthodox yeshiva day schools in Bergen County, NJ is seeking a marketing and communications director who will implement strategies that support recruiting, retention and fundraising for the school. This professional should be comfortable working in conjunction with professional and lay leaders, and an outside public relations firm. Position reports to the head of school.

Job Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

-Implements communications programs across several platforms that support school’s mission
-Will have primary responsibility for writing, and visual asset gathering and creation for social media platforms
-Source newsworthy programs, services and events, and then writes and distributes press releases to the media

-Develops creative for advertising and handles insertion in appropriate media
-Creates strategy, prepares material and distributes internal communications content
-Develops and maintains a communications and marketing budget
-Ensures effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee that marketing objectives that stay within the designated budgets
-Supports development department in its fundraising events and programs
-Supports admissions department in its communication and advertising needs
-Works with professional and lay leadership to promote new initiatives for school branding

Skills:
-Experience with social media – both strategy and implementation
-Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
-Ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of professional and lay leadership, and school staff
-Self-starter who can set priorities and juggle assignments to meet multiple deadlines
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe
-Proficiency in social media tools such as Canva, Hootsuite and Loomly
-Ability to take usable photos and record video for social media using a smart phone

Education, Preparation & Training
-Bachelor’s degree preferably in marketing and communications, or a related field
-At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably at an educational institution or not-for-profit
