Description
The YM-YWHA of Union County, NJ is a non-profit organization providing cultural, educational, spiritual, social and recreational programming throughout Union County. We are dedicated to building a vibrant, better educated, more active, inclusive and committed Jewish community. The Y’s core programs include summer camp, day care, and programming for senior adults. The facilities include a gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, campgrounds and catering facilities as well as classroom space and a certified day care center. The Y has an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million.

During 2021, the Y became a division of the Jewish Educational Center of Elizabeth. Synergies gained as a united organization mean greater efficiencies and more effective operations. The JEC and the Y are beneficiary agencies of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest.

Position Description

The Executive Director is the principal professional responsible for the Y staff and assets. The Executive Director promotes the Y’s mission and values while building and sustaining its organization, operations, programs and services. The successful candidate will effectively communicate mission and goals, maintain operations, envision and implement new programs, enhance membership, expand fundraising and manage the Y’s finances.

The position reports to the Executive Vice President of the JEC and is accountable to the President and Board of Directors of the YM-YWHA.

The Executive Director should have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to get things done. Qualified candidates will have at least a bachelor’s degree in related disciplines, record of fundraising success, experience in non-profit governance, management and operations or equivalent business experience, and a demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate and manage staff and volunteers.
